What We Believe

Scripture

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God.  They were written by human authors under the perfect supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible; therefore, contains God’s perfect truth and is the written revelation of God for faith and life.

(Psalm 19:7-13, 119:1-5; Proverbs 30:5-6; Isaiah 40:8; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

God the Father

We believe in one God, creator and active ruler of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all mankind.

(Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; John 15:9; 1 Corinthians 8:9; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2)

God the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life.  He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, according to the scriptures.  He arose bodily from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death as our Savior.  He ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of God the Father, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

(Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; Acts 1:9; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Titus 2:13-14; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 John 4:14; Phil 2:5-8)

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Son, Jesus Christ, convict humans of their sin and need for Jesus, and regenerate those who place their faith in Christ.  He indwells every believer to provide understanding of spiritual truths and to provide counsel and power for godly living. He further gives every believer spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ.

(John 14:16-17, 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:7-15, 3:16, 12:1-7; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 1:13-14, 5:18)

Mankind

Mankind was created by the special act of God, in His own image, male and female, and is the crowning work of His creation. Mankind, in disobedience, fell from perfect communion with God and became inclined toward sin. Only the grace of God can reconcile mankind through Christ into His holy fellowship and enable mankind to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

(Genesis 1:26-30; Psalm 1; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 3:23; 8:14-18, 29; Ephesians 2; Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11)

Salvation

We believe that salvation and reconciliation to God can only be accomplished through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. All who repent and place their trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior are truly saved. Salvation is an instantaneous act of God that happens the moment a person consciously receives Jesus as Lord and Savior by faith.

(Mark 1:14-15; John 1:12, 3:3-21; Acts 4:10-12; Romans 5:1-2, 6:23, 10:9-10; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 1:21-22; Titus 3:4-5)

Assurance of Salvation

We believe that because God gives eternal life through Jesus Christ; the true believer is secure in their salvation for all of eternity.  Salvation is maintained and guarded by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of any person.

(John 10:28-29; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Timothy 1:9-12; Hebrews 7:23-28, 10:10-14; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

Baptism and Communion

We believe that water Baptism by immersion, after salvation, and Communion are the ordinances Christ gave to the church. They are both symbolic and are not to be regarded as a means of salvation. These ordinances are performed as acts of obedience and as a testimony of the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior.

(Matthew 3:13-17, 28:19-20; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)
